Mozambique LNG Strengthens the Capabilities of a Further 100Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Cabo Delgado

Maputo, August 18, 2026 – The Mozambique LNG Project, operated by TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1 Limitada (TEPMA1), today marked an important milestone with 100 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) having benefited from the CapacitaMoz Business Development Programme in Cabo Delgado. The milestone was celebrated during a ceremony presided over by the Governor of Cabo Delgado Province, Valige Tauabo, following the completion of the programme’s fourth cycle.

In this cycle, an additional 25 SMEs received training, mentoring and business coaching to strengthen their capabilities and enhance their competitiveness. In parallel a further 267 companies in Cabo Delgado benefited from other Mozambique LNG initiatives, including technical assistance, international certification and start-up development programmes.

The 25 companies participating in this fourth cycle represent sectors such as general services, construction, transport and logistics. Throughout the programme, they received training, mentoring and business coaching in key areas essential to the sustainable growth of their businesses, including strategic management, accounting and finance, human resources, marketing, quality control, and health, safety and environmental management.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Governor of Cabo Delgado, Valige Tauabo, said: “This investment in building the capacity of our business community is particularly important in a context where Cabo Delgado continues to attract investment and create business opportunities. SMEs play an essential role in job creation, income generation, fostering innovation, and stimulating the local economy. We want the companies of Cabo Delgado to be increasingly prepared to take advantage of existing opportunities, provide high-quality services, and participate effectively in the supply chains of the major projects being developed in our province.”

According to Edna Simbine, Local Content Manager at TEPMA1, the results achieved over the four cycles demonstrate that participating companies have significantly strengthened their management capabilities,
internal organization and competitiveness and are now better prepared to seize business opportunities across different sectors of the economy.

“The programme has contributed to a more meaningful participation of Mozambican SMEs in the market, both within the oil and gas sector and in other economic activities relevant to the country’s development. Among the achievements from CapacitaMoz Business Development Programme, it is noteworthy that 17 of the 100 companies supported are already part of the Mozambique LNG project’s supply chain, either directly or through contracted companies. As a result, the total number of Cabo Delgado companies benefiting from the various capacity-building programmes that have joined the Mozambique LNG project’s supply chain now stands at 40,” said Simbine.

Beto Amussine, Founder and Managing Director of Fire Protection, who benefited from the fourth training cycle, said: “Before the training, our processes were slower and more complicated. During the programme,
however, we gained a new understanding of how things work. We started implementing new processes and have significantly improved both our administrative and technical operations. We continue working hard to
improve further. We are now expanding into Palma and have already signed contracts with several other companies.”

Likewise, Atibo Manuel, Managing Director of Scrap Metal Company Lda, who participated in the previous training cycle, stated that “the training greatly transformed the way we operate and our internal
procedures. It opened new doors for us. Today, we provide services not only to companies contracted by the Mozambique LNG project, but also to other companies in Cabo Delgado and Nampula.”

About Mozambique LNG project

Mozambique LNG is the first onshore development of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in the country. The project includes the development of the Golfinho and Atum fields located within Offshore Area 1 and the construction of a two-trains liquefaction plant with a capacity of 13.12 million tonnes per year. The Area 1 contains approximately up to 65 Tcf of gas resources, of which 18 Tcf will be developed with the first two trains.
