CapacitaMoz Boosts Competitiveness of 75 Mozambican Companies

Business Development Program (BDP), graduation ceremony, Pemba

PEMBA, MOZAMBIQUE – The Mozambique LNG project has reached a significant milestone in its local content strategy with the completion of the third cycle of the Business Development Program (BDP) under its CapacitaMoz initiative. This latest graduation brings the total number of trained local companies to 75. The target is reaching 100 enterprises.

Over an intensive six-month period, participating companies undergo a comprehensive development journey that includes:

  • Core Competencies: Training in management, finance, human resources, and marketing.
  • Operational Standards: Specialized modules on quality control, health, safety, and environment (HSE).
  • Direct Support: A hybrid model combining initial diagnostics, in-person training in Pemba, and on-site coaching and mentoring sessions at each company.

Launched in February 2023, CapacitaMoz serves as the primary platform for Mozambique LNG’s capacity-building initiatives. The program is designed to go beyond theoretical training, focusing on delivering real impact by improving day-to-day operational efficiency and enhancing the competitiveness of local businesses.

Strategic Focus on Cabo Delgado

All 75 companies graduated to date are based in Cabo Delgado, operating mainly in critical sectors such as civil construction, transport and logistics, and general services. By prioritizing these sectors, the program aims to ensure that local businesses are technically and operationally prepared to seize future opportunities linked to the Mozambique LNG project.

With three cycles now completed, the Project plans to integrate the final group of 25 companies in 2026. This initiative is part of a broader local content framework that also includes professional internships for 500 young people and technical training for 2,500 Mozambicans over five years, reinforcing the Project’s role in driving sustainable economic growth across the region.
