Mozambique LNG Project at MMEC 2026

The Mozambique LNG Project, operated by TotalEnergies, participated on 6 and 7 May 2026 in the Mozambique Mining and Energy Conference (MMEC 2026), a key regional forum held under the theme “Mozambique: Open for Business – Unlocking Natural Resources for Industrialization, Diversification and Inclusive Growth.”

The Project’s participation comes against the backdrop of its official restart announced in January 2026, a milestone reflecting both renewed project momentum and continued alignment with Mozambique’s long‑term energy and economic development strategy. During the first day of the conference, Mozambique LNG outlined recent progress and reaffirmed its role as a strategic anchor project for the country’s gas sector.

Discussions on the second day broadened to the Project’s contribution beyond LNG production, with particular focus on Local Content and value creation within the domestic economy, areas of increasing importance to stakeholders and long‑term project resilience. Mozambique LNG highlighted ongoing initiatives including engineering scholarships, technical and vocational training for young Mozambicans, internship programs with national and international companies, and capacity‑building support for local small and medium‑sized enterprises through the Business Development Program.

Together, these measures form part of a structured approach to developing local capabilities, strengthening the national supplier base and supporting economic diversification, reinforcing the Project’s social license to operate and its long‑term sustainability. For investors and stakeholders, these initiatives underpin Mozambique LNG’s positioning as a durable, integrated development project, aligned with national priorities and global expectations on responsible energy development.
