Mozambique LNG Sponsors the 4th Women in the Economy Conference and Reinforces Its Commitment to Gender Equality

Maputo, Mozambique – The Mozambique LNG Project, operated by TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1, Lda., sponsored the 4th Women in the Economy Conference, organized by the Foundation for Community Development (FDC), reaffirming its commitment to promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the sustainable development of Mozambique.

Held under the theme “Training, Leadership and Local Content: Empowering Women to Access, Compete and Lead in Strategic Economic Sectors,” the conference brought together representatives from the public and private sectors, development partners, and civil society organizations to discuss ways to increase women’s participation in strategic sectors of the national economy.

By supporting this initiative, Mozambique LNG reinforced its belief that investing in education, skills development, and women’s leadership is essential to fostering more inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

Representing the Project, Laila Chilemba, Public Affairs & Communication Director, emphasized that investing in women means investing in Mozambique’s future, highlighting the importance of creating more opportunities for women to acquire skills, take on leadership roles, and actively contribute to the country’s economic and social development.

This vision was echoed by Graça Machel, Founder and Chairperson of FDC, who explained that the fourth edition of the conference was built around three key pillars: training, leadership, and local content.

“Our focus is to expand women’s access to training in strategic development sectors and promote their participation in leadership and decision-making positions, contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable economy,” said Graça Machel.

Through its partnerships and development programmes, the Mozambique LNG project will continue to support initiatives that promote women’s active participation in the economy, contributing to a more inclusive, prosperous, and sustainable future for Mozambique.
