Mozambique LNG Has Already Awarded 105 Scholarships to Young Mozambicans to Pursue Higher Education in France

Maputo, August 14, 2026 – The Mozambique LNG Project, operated by TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1 Limitada (TEPMA1), has already awarded 105 scholarships to young Mozambicans to pursue higher education in France under a scholarship program developed in partnership with the Embassy of France in Mozambique.

Since the initiative was launched in 2021, beneficiaries have been enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs at leading French universities. While some have already completed their studies and returned to Mozambique, others continue their education in France. The latest group includes six new students who recently departed to continue their academic training.

Mary Begg-Saffar, Corporate Affairs Director at TEPMA1, emphasized that the scholarship program is one of the initiatives through which the Mozambique LNG project contributes to the development of national human capital.

“Skills development reflects our commitment to contributing to Mozambique’s sustainable development. Over the years, this program has enabled young Mozambicans to pursue higher education in France, acquiring knowledge and experience that they can put at the service of the country’s development. The milestone of 105 beneficiaries now achieved strengthens our conviction that investing in education and youth training is investing in Mozambique’s future,” said Mary- Begg
Saffar.

Among the six new scholarship recipients supported by the Mozambique LNG project who recently left for France is RĂŽmeo AmbrĂłzio, from BaruĂ© District in Manica Province, who will pursue a master’s degree in electrical Energy Systems in Toulouse.
Rîmeo Ambrózio chose the program because “it is a course that aligns with the field in which I have been working and that can open new perspectives for my professional development. I believe I will be better prepared to offer improved solutions to some of the problems I observed during my professional experience”. According to him, the sector in which he worked faces challenges related to energy transmission and network losses, and he hopes to return with knowledge that will “enable me to help find more effective solutions to these problems’’.

For Rossana Sardinha, from Nampula, the program in Solar Energy, Management, Economics and Law that she will attend is directly linked to the challenges faced by her province. “There are still many communities without basic access to electricity. I want to acquire knowledge that will allow me to help change this reality,” she said.
Rossana Sardinha also noted that “scholarship programs like this help us not only achieve our individual dreams but also acquire the knowledge and skills that can contribute to the country’s development.”
